2012-2016 Toyota Tundra recalled by Performax for steering fix:: 214 vehicles affected

Conversion company Performax International has issued a recall for 214 of its Toyota Tundra utes from 2012 to 2016 over concerns a faulty wheel alignment could cause steering vibration.

The company reports that out-of-specification adjustments can be made to the tie rods during a wheel alignment, due to faulty tie rod extensions.

If such an adjustment is made, this could cause an unsafe thread engagement between the tie rod and the steering rack, which may cause steering vibration.

The vibration through the steering rack could pose a hazard to the driver.

Affected Toyota Tundra utes were converted by Performax from 28 June 2012 through 29 April 2016.

The VIN list can be viewed here.

Owners of the recalled vehicles will be contacted via mail, and are encouraged to see their local dealer to arrange to have the tie rod extensions replaced.

Alternatively, customers can contact Performax to arrange for a third party repairer to complete the recall work.
