2018 Mercedes-AMG GLC63 Coupe spied
The Mercedes-AMG GLC63 Coupe has been spied undergoing cold weather testing in Europe.
As if there was any doubt that Mercedes-Benz was planning to drop AMG's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 into the GLC Coupe, these photos should put those thoughts to bed.
Today's prototype follows on from spy photos taken in May of the AMG GLC63 doing a spot of public road testing.
Unlike the more practical GLC63, the Coupe variant seen here is wearing a bit more disguise. Regardless, we can tell that the GLC63 Coupe will be fitted more aggressive front fascia design.
There should also be differences around the grille, rear bumper and diffuser, and exhaust tips.
Aside from that, the main visual differences between the GLC63 Coupe and GLC43 Coupe will likely be the alloy wheels and the thickness of the tyres.
Under the bonnet, the GLC63 Coupe, like its GLC63 brother, will use the newest version of the company's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. First employed by the latest-generation E63, this iteration of the engine makes 420kW/750Nm in standard form, and 450kW/850Nm in S models.
A 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system and a nine-speed automatic transmission should also be standard, with drift mode available on S models.
Given the amount of camouflage on this car, the GLC63 Coupe looks like it will make its global debut some time during the second half of 2017.
