Hyundai V8 – 280kW+

Hyundai had previously stated the 4.6-litre V8 in the concept Genesis sedan (pictured), would develop around 223kW and 400Nm. Nonetheless, reports today suggest that previous estimates were, well, an understatement. Hyundai is currently developing a flagship rear-wheel-drive sedan, referred to as BH (set to arrive later in the year).

Hyundai exchange reports that the company's research and development boss Hyun-Soon Lee advised a group of Korean executives the company's new 4.6-litre V8 should be good for around 280kW (380 horsepower).

The new V8 will find its way into the rear-wheel-drive sedan that Hyundai hopes will help boost its image to car enthusiasts. The news comes only a few weeks after Hyundai confirmed the next generation Tiburon will be driven via the rear wheels - with the possibility of forced induction.

Given the new Tiburon is based on the same platform as the V8 sedan, we can only imagine that fitting the V8 to the Tiburon would be a relatively easy task, and it would make for one hell of a rear-wheel-drive coupe! Admittedly, Hyundai have so far denied this is going to happen.
