Faraday Future previews family-hauling EV ahead of CES debut

Electric vehicle upstart Faraday Future has handed down a new preview image of its upcoming SUV-styled family car, which will likely be positioned as a rival to the Tesla Model X and the upcoming Jaguar I-Pace.

The company had first hinted at this new vehicle with a shadowy silhouette that outlines the car's profile, released in April. That image confirmed we can expect a tall spacious SUV with a long, coupe-like roofline.

Faraday's new EV will debut at next month's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, confirming on Twitter today that it will be the company's first production vehicle.

The only vehicle to have appeared with the fish-like FF badge before now is the FFZERO1 concept, looking more like a new batmobile or endurance racer than any sort of genuine preview of what buyers can expect.

Next month's CES could therefore be a make-or-break moment for Faraday, especially with the company surrounded by reports that it is struggling for funds.

Watch for more on Faraday Future's production car to surface in the coming weeks, and catch our earlier coverage below.
