Mitsubishi ASX, Pajero Sport, Challenger recalled for tailgate corrosion fix:: 74,900 vehicles affected
Mitsubishi has issued a recall notice for 74,935 of its ASX, Pajero Sport and Challenger SUVs from various model years over corrosion concerns.
According to the Japanese manufacturer, the affected vehicles may have insufficient corrosion coating on the end cap on the outer tub of the tailgate gas springs.
If corrosion occurs as a result, the end cap of the tailgate spring could break and hit the operator or cause the tailgate to fall down suddenly - increasing the risk of injury or potentially causing an accident.
Although not an identical issue, a number of other Japanese vehicles were recalled for a gas strut corrosion fix in May and September.
