Alpina officially launches in Australia:: B3 and B4 BiTurbo now on sale

German tuning company Alpina is now officially on sale in Australia, with its BMW 4 Series-based B4 BiTurbo the first model in its range to be homologated for our market.

Local distributor, The In Motion Group, officially launched the range at a special event late last week, with the first dealerships to sell the bespoke models being BMW Doncaster and Bundoora.

Five more dealerships will be announced later in the year, located in Adelaide, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane.

Starting at $160,900 plus on-road costs, the BMW 4 Series-based Alpina B4 BiTurbo coupe is the first of several models in the company's line-up, which will soon include the B4 BiTurbo convertible, along with the BMW 3 Series-based B3 BiTurbo sedan and Touring wagon.

Also confirmed for the Australian market, is the recently-revealed Alpina B7 BiTurbo - based on the BMW 7 Series - though timing for the super limousine is still unknown as it is also in the homologation process.

Speaking at the launch, CEO of BMW Australia, Marc Werner, said the Bavarian company's local arm welcomes the availability of Alpina models to our market.

"Alpina has a long history of producing tailored cars based on BMW models and we welcome their presence in the Australian market," he said.

Patrick Fielding, general manager for The In Motion Group, said the company is excited about the opportunity to offer the new and exclusive range to Australia.

"Alpina has earned a global reputation for producing highly individual cars that marry luxury and detailing with refined dynamic motoring," he said.

Eight examples of the B4 BiTurbo coupe will arrive by the end of November and will be used as demonstrators for dealers.

By the end of the month The In Motion Group will also have one example each of the B4 BiTurbo Convertible, B3 BiTurbo sedan and Touring for customers to test-drive at the Doncaster dealership.

The B3 sedan will kick off from $155,900 plus on-road costs, while the more practical Touring starts at $160,900 before on roads. Meanwhile, the open-top B4 Convertible kicks off at $170,900 before ORCs.

Alpina is a low-volume bespoke manufacturer of vehicles based on current BMW models and has been associated with the Bavarian luxury brand since 1965.
