2015-16 Toyota HiAce recalled for door latch fix:: 500 vehicles affected

Toyota has issued a recall notice for 500 of its 2015 and 2016 HiAce LWB Crew Vans over concerns a latch system in the sliding does not meet Australian Design Rules (ADR).

According to the Japanese manufacturer, the vehicles are equipped with a single latch system on the side sliding doors which does not comply with the relevant ADR legislation.

The company says the latches also pose a safety hazard if the door was to unlatch whilst the vehicle is in motion.

Vehicles affected by the recall were built between January 2015 through October 2016. A VIN list for the recalled HiAce vans can be viewed here.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by Toyota Australia via mail, inviting them to make an appointment with their local dealer to have the recall work carried out free of charge.
