2017 Genesis G80 3.3T Sport:: twin-turbo sedan detailed

The Genesis G80 3.3T Sport has been detailed at its American premiere at the 2016 Los Angeles motor show.

Under the bonnet there lurks a 3.3-liter direct-injection twin-turbo V6 engine with 272kW of power at 6000rpm, and 510Nm of torque between 1300 and 4500rpm. Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a standard eight-speed shift-by-wire automatic transmission.

The 3.3T Sport rides on dark 19-inch alloy wheels, and continuous damping control suspension. Visually, the 3.3T Sport is distinguished by a dark chrome grille, more aggressively styled front and rear bumpers, blacked out trim pieces, and modified side sills.

The cabin is kitted with real carbon-fibre trim pieces, leather upholstery, sports seats, microfibre suede headliner, and aluminium pedals. There's also copper colour accents throughout the cabin, which Genesis hopes will be a signature flourish for the newly launched standalone brand.

Other standard equipment includes a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, full LED headlights, a 17-speaker Lexicon surround sound system, and Qi wireless smartphone charging.

Australia

The G80 3.3T Sport will go on sale in the US from the second quarter of 2017.

Hyundai Australia confirmed only that the lightly updated G80 will launch in Australia during 2017, but has yet to say whether we'll get the G80 Sport too.
