2016 Suzuki Vitara diesel recalled:: 32 vehicles affected – UPDATE

Update - This article originally stated 47 vehicles were affected by this recall. A representative from Suzuki Australia has since confirmed the number is 32 units. See article for details.

Suzuki has recalled 32 of its diesel-powered Vitara SUVs over concerns an incorrect software program could cause a loss of power.

According to the Japanese manufacturer, the faulty software could cause the Ambient Temperature Sensor Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) to not illuminate when required.

If the condition occurs, owners could experience a loss in engine power and the vehicle may fall outside emissions regulations.

A VIN list for the affected Vitara diesel vehicles can be viewed here.

The 32 vehicles were available for sale from April 2016 through September 2016.

Owners of the recalled SUVs will be contacted by Suzuki Australia via mail, and are encouraged to present their Vitara to their local dealer for an inspection and reprogramming.
