Cadillac CTS Coupé revealed ahead of LA Motor Show

In the lead up to next month's Los Angeles Motor Show, Cadillac has revealed its CTS Coupé, which was first seen as a concept at the Australian International Motor Show.

Initially due to be launched earlier this year, the CTS Coupé was put on hold because of GM's financial problems and the global financial crisis.

Bryan Nesbitt, general manager of Cadillac said "CTS Coupé is the new focal point of Cadillac, expressing both our design and technical capabilities, it is intended to appeal to a new generation of car enthusiasts."

Sharing the same platform, wheelbase and 227kW 3.6-litre V6 as the CTS Sedan, only the length of the Coupé has changed being 50mm shorter.

Automatic and manual transmissions are available, both of which offer six speeds.

Even though the CTS Coupé looks like the sedan sibling it shares only the instrument panel, centre console, headlamps, front bumper and grille in common.

The CTS Coupé has no conventional B-pillar and has touch pads to open the doors removing the need for door handles, and leaving clean lines. The windscreen is angled at 62.3 degrees and the back window is almost horizontal giving the car sleek aerodynamics.

Up front the bumper features unique brake cooling vents while the rear bumper has diamond cut style mesh with a centre exhaust with twin dihedral shaped tips that pass through it.

The signature vertical lighting is highlighted with LED lights while the rear spoiler has been mounted into the high mounted stop light.

There will be two options of suspension settings, a Performance Package that includes 18-inch wheels and all season tyres, and the Summer Tyre Performance Package includes 19-inch wheels with performance tyres and (rear) limited slip differential.

The CTS Coupé is offered in both rear wheel drive and all wheel drive on the performance package.

Though not yet confirmed the interior is expected to include 14 way adjustable Recaro sports seats, a pop up navigation screen and a Bose 5.1 surround sound system.

Expect to see the CTS Coupe in US showrooms by mid-2010.
