FPV's current 5.4-litre BOSS V8 is set to be axed in July 2010. FPV spokesman Dave Harding told CarAdvice, "the current BOSS won't meet Euro IV", with Ford Australia spokeswoman Sinead McAlary further adding, "FPV has a number of exciting engine advancements to talk about next year but we aren't providing any further detail at this stage."
While Ford isn't willing to officially talk about new engines, CarAdvice can confirm that the new V8, which carries the 'Coyote' codename, will be similar to the engine currently being developed for the 2010 Ford Mustang.
Reports from the US suggest the 5.0-litre V8 engine is set to produce some 298kW and over 540Nm of torque. Tweaked variants of the engine (some featuring a 5.8-litre capacity) are said to produce a further 50kW.
The vehicle photographed by Pavle.com.au is fitted with a front car-bra, following on from FPV General Manager, Rod Barrett's recent statement to the media, “it will be evolution, not revolution, for us next year”. “It’s no secret that we need to change the aesthetics of our car – it has been a few years since we did so.”
In addition to the car-bra, the photographs reveal quad exhaust pipes, replacing Ford's current dual pipe arrangement.
These photographs come after CarAdvice the exclusive photographs released by CarAdvice earlier this year, picturing a supercharged variant of the Coyote V8.
