2014-15 Peugeot 4008 recalled for transmission fix

Peugeot has issued a recall for its 4008 SUVs sold between May 2014 and December 2015, equipped with the continuously-variable transmission (CVT), over concerns the vehicles could experience a delay in acceleration.

The manufacturer reports an unexpected reduction in the vehicle’s acceleration could potentially cause an accident.

Affected 4008 vehicles were sold from 1 May 2014 through to 31 December 2015.

A VIN list can be viewed here.

Though not confirmed by the French company, this recall is linked to a similar notice for its twin-under-the-skin, the Mitsubishi ASX, which was issued last week.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by Peugeot Australia via mail, and are advised to present their vehicle to their preferred dealer to upgrade the software in the transmission control unit free of charge.
