2017 Jaguar XF Sportbrake spied

The second-generation Jaguar XF Sportbrake, or wagon, has been spied undergoing testing at the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

The new wagon doesn't stray far from the design template laid out by the first XF, nor the current sedan. Visually there don't seem to be any changes ahead of the C-pillar, except, of course, for the new roof.

Given the design of the front fascia and the taped up badging on the grille, the prototype photographed here seems to be an S variant, meaning that it's motived by either a 221kW 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel or a 280kW supercharged V6 petrol engine.

As with the XF sedan, volume-selling versions of the wagon will be powered by turbocharged four-cylinder engines. Depending on when it enters showrooms, the five-door hauler could be offered from launch with the new 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine, as well as the now familiar 2.0-litre Ingenium turbo-diesel.

Confirmed just last month, the XF wagon will be the fourth body style, after the XE sedan, XF sedan and F-Pace SUV, to be built upon Jaguar's latest aluminium architecture.

Australia

Jaguar Australia has told CarAdvice that it will bring the XF wagon down under, with sales possibly beginning before the end of 2017.
