Fisker previews new model with ‘butterfly doors’

Henrik Fisker, the man behind the design of the Aston Martin DB9 and founder of the reborn Fisker Inc, has previewed an upcoming model from the electric car brand.

On his Twitter profile, Henrik Fisker shared a teaser image of the new model, which features ‘butterfly’ doors - a design the entrepreneur says will make for better ingress and egress.

This comes after Karma Automotive - formerly Fisker Automotive - revealed the 2017 Karma Revero, a refreshed version of the Fisker Karma that first debuted at the 2008 Detroit motor show.

For those who may be a little confused, Fisker Automotive filed for bankruptcy in 2013, and had its assets sold to Chinese company Wanxiang Group in 2014.

What was Fisker Automotive then became Karma Automotive, and revealed the Revero which is was launched on September 8.

Meanwhile, Henrik Fisker decided to start Fisker Inc, which shares the same name as the previous automotive firm he founded - though it has no connection to the company that became Karma Automotive.

Fisker Inc claims it will “create electric vehicles that break the mould of what’s currently available”, using a patented battery design that will “offer a significantly longer life and range than any battery currently on the market”.

Batteries will be supplied by Fisker Nanotech, which is claimed to have developed a new type of chemistry that boosts power and life, while also reducing size and weight.

More details of the upcoming car from Fisker Inc are to be revealed next week, so stay tuned.
