2015-16 Toyota Prius recalled for parking brake fix:: 300 vehicles affected

Toyota Australia has issued a recall for 304 of its current-generation 2015 to 2016 model-year Prius vehicles over concerns the parking brake could be faulty.

According to the Japanese manufacturer, the affected vehicles are equipped with a foot-operated parking brake that may fail once engaged.

If the fault occurs and the transmission is left in any gear other than ‘park’ while the ignition is on, the vehicle could roll away.

Affected Prius vehicles were produced from 18 August 2015 through to 3 October 2016.

Owners of the recalled cars will be notified by Toyota Australia via mail, with parts arriving in dealerships next month.

Parking brake cable clips will be installed on all affected vehicles. The repairs should take around 30 minutes, at no charge to the customer.

Toyota’s local arm has confirmed that there have been no reports of the condition in Australia.
