BMW Connected update adds Android compatibility, coming to Australia soon

The BMW Connected personal mobility companion smartphone application has been updated and showcased during the Paris motor show, bringing compatibility with Android devices, and will be rolling out in markets including Australia very soon.

Connecting smartphones and smartwatches to the vehicle to deliver a personalised experience, BMW Connected gives customers access to data such the charge status of the battery, driving range, travel times based on traffic conditions, route information, along with the ability to control certain vehicle functions remotely (Germany and UK only) - such as locking the doors.

With the updated app, Android users will join the BMW Connected party, along with users of the recently-launched Apple Watch Series 2.

Other new features include ‘last mile navigation’; which gives users a route from their parked vehicle to their final destination, along with ‘first mile navigation’; the route back to their vehicle from their destination.

More information can be accessed with the updated app, including the vehicle’s tyre pressure and even engine oil level.

BMW’s local arm will be making an announcement regarding the rollout of the BMW Connected app in the coming weeks.
