Tickford Ranger ute marks return of familiar tuning badge for Australia

The Tickford name has returned to Australia with the launch of a personalised Ranger offering styling enhancements and performance upgrades.

The Tickford name has been absent locally since 2001, when the brand featured tuned versions of the Falcon. Fast forward to today and Tickford has been relaunched by Prodrive Racing (Australia), and will begin enhancements on both the Ford Ranger and Mustang.

Tickford will commence its retail operations in October with 'Tickford Modification Centres' located in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane from 2017, with the Ranger being the first model with tweaks offered.

Ranger modifications will include aesthetic changes, such as front and rear bumpers, along with wheels and wheel-arch protectors. Other changes include modifications to engine tune, in addition to ride and handling. While the operation is yet to detail its Mustang offering, it's expected that the Mustang will be offered with similar aesthetic and engine/wheel options.

The Ranger engine tune features thousands of hours of tuning, according to Tickford. The package includes a 2.5-inch catback exhaust (which includes a side-exiting exhaust with a carbon tip) and an ECU calibration, which increases power output by around 15 per cent and torque by around 20 per cent. Exact numbers are still to be offered.

The ride and handling package includes the option of three packages:

  • 20-inch alloys wheels combined with Goodyear AT tyres and unique fender flares
  • Bilstein dampers and King springs
  • Bilstein dampers and King springs with optional 2-inch lift kit

Tickford claims that the packages were developed and tested in conjunction with Bosch Automotive, with all options passing the Australian Design Rules (ARDs) associated with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

Interior upgrades include the option of unique leather seats (which don't impact on side airbag deployment), a perforated leather and suede steering wheel, along with Tickford sill plates.

The exterior package includes a deep-set Tickford grille which the company claims doesn't impact pedestrian protection, flared wheel arches, blacked-out side steps and Tickford branding on the rear.

Tickford covers the balance of new car warranty and covers any damage to the vehicle as a result of the brand's installed parts.
