2015-16 Lexus RX200t, RX350, RX450h recalled for airbag fix

Luxury marque Lexus has issued a recall for its 2015 to 2016 model-year RX200t, RX350 and RX450h SUVs over concerns the front passenger airbag may not deploy correctly.

According to the manufacturer, the front passenger airbag inflator may have been improperly welded and/or misassembled.

This could cause the airbag to deploy unexpectedly and partially inflate, posing a risk of injury to the occupants of the vehicle and other road users.

Affected RX200t vehicles were produced from 23 December 2015 to 18 February 2016. Meanwhile, recalled RX350s were built between 9 December 2015 through 3 February 2016. Finally, the affected RX450h vehicles were made from 28 November 2015 to 15 February 2016.

A VIN table for the recalled models can be viewed here.

Owners of these vehicles will be contacted by Lexus, and invited to make an appointment with their local dealership to have the recall work carried out free of charge.
