The Nissan ProPilot seat was unveiled overnight and, apart from promoting the company's self-driving technologies, has been designed to make queuing for restaurants a little more comfortable.

The ProPilot seat is designed specifically to make queuing a less arduous task, allowing people in the line to sit down and relax. They can read a book, chat, sip a coffee, or browse their smartphone while the chair automatically shuffles them up the queue.

At the bottom of the chair is a combined sensor and motor package that's able to drive seat and keep it a safe distance from unit in front of it.

The ProPilot chair will be displayed at the company's global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan until October 2.
