Hyundai N Concept RN30:: motorsport flavoured car teased ahead of Paris debut

The Hyundai N Concept RN30 has been previewed ahead of its debut at the 2016 Paris motor show, which kicks off at the end of the month.

Ahead of the car's full debut, Hyundai isn't giving too much away about the vehicle, which it describes as a "motorsport-inspired racing concept ... developed to deliver passion and pleasure on the track for everybody".

The RN30 was created by Hyundai Motorsport, the company's European technical centre, and its Performance Development and High Performance Vehicle Division, and is based on the third-generation i30 five-door hatch, which was unveiled earlier this month.

Compared to the road-going i30, the RN30 has a wider body and track, a completely revised body with massively flared and vented wheel arches, significantly lowered suspension, and "specialised high-performance technologies that deliver thrilling high-speed driving".

Although there are no official details at the moment, we'd be surprised if the N Concept RN30 featured anything other a turbocharged four-cylidner petrol engine driving all four wheels.

While the RN30 concept may hold a few clues about the styling details for the upcoming i30 N hot hatch, don't expect the Volkswagen Golf GTI challenger to look anywhere near this wild or extreme.

The Hyundai i30 N was last spied in the middle of August, and is expected to debut in 2017. Rumours indicate that the i30 N will be powered by a direct-injection 2.0-litre turbo with between 180 and 195kW of power.
