Lego Caterham 7 620R kit revealed

The ultimate kit car kit car, the Lego Caterham 7, has finally been revealed.

A result of the crowd-sourced Lego Ideas program, the bight yellow Caterham joins the Mars 'Curiosity' Rover and Back to the Future Delorean vehicles developed through the program.

The Caterham, set number 21307, is the first 'road going' car set to make the transition from fan concept to mass-production reality.

Lego Ideas invites creative Lego fans and builders from around the world to design and submit sets for production. The concepts are voted on, with 10,000 people required to support a project for it to be considered for release.

The 28cm-long Caterham 7 620R kit has 771 pieces and captures the raw appeal of the British track day hero. There's a detailed engine bay and a single side-exit exhaust, complete with hotdog muffler. The kit includes a set of four traffic cones for ham-fisted drivers to knock and incur a five-second time penalty on dining-room table motorkahana courses.

Priced from US$79.99 (AUD$110), the Lego Ideas Caterham is on sale from the 1st of October 2016.
