2014-16 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk recalled for wheel spats fix

Jeep has issued a recall for 1705 of its 2014-2016 model-year ‘KL’ Cherokee Trailhawk SUVs over concerns some vehicles may not have been installed with wheel flare protection spats.

According to the manufacturer, the affected Cherokees have left the factory without the spats installed. As a result, these vehicles do not comply with Australian Design Rule 42/04 - General Safety Equipment.

Additionally, the absence of wheel flare protection spats increases the risk of the vehicle flicking debris out of the wheel arches, posing an injury hazard to bystanders.

The VIN list for recalled Cherokees can be viewed here.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Australia are encouraged to present their vehicle to their local Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership where the wheel flare spats will be installed.

This is the second recall for the Jeep Cherokee this week, with the earlier recall involving 7201 units over an electrical fault.
