2014-15 Jeep Cherokee recalled for wiring fix – UPDATE

UPDATE: This article originally suggested the compact Renegade has also been recalled in Australia. Although part of the wider global recall, Australian-market Renegades are not affected.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Australia has recalled 7201 examples of its 2014-2015 Cherokee SUV this week, as part of a wider global recall to address an electrical issue.

The recall marks the second for the Cherokee this year, having been recalled in February for a tailgate control corrosion problem.

This latest focuses on concerns that the transaxle wiring harness could suffer intermittent electrical resistance due to insufficient wire terminal crimps.

If the problem occurs, driving power could be lost, potentially causing a crash.

FCA Australia has confirmed it will notify affected owners by mail, advising that the vehicle be taken to a Chrysler Jeep Dodge service centre for repairs.
