The LC500 race car will make its competition debut in the Japanese Super GT500 series in 2017, replacing the current RC F race car.
Wearing an extensive body kit, the LC500 race car looks like something out of the Gran Turismo gaming franchise, sporting flared wheel arches, a huge rear wing and numerous air intakes for added downforce and heat extraction.
The race car weighs just 1020 kilograms, and is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed sequential transmission.
Meanwhile, the road-going LC500 is powered by a 350kW 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 petrol engine channelled through an ‘industry-first’ 10-speed automatic transmission.
At the car’s reveal earlier this year, the company claimed the LC500 can spring from 0-60 miles per hour (0-96km/h) in “under 4.5 seconds”.
The V8-powered luxury sports coupe will be joined by an LC500h hybrid version, which teams a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine with an electric motor to push out a combined output of 264kW.
Both the LC500 and LC500h will go on sale in Australia during the first half of 2017.
