Faraday Future electric SUV spied in Los Angeles – report
A heavily-disguised prototype believed to be one of the new models from electric startup company Faraday Future has been spied in sunny Los Angeles this week.
It appears the prototype in the photo is the same vehicle that was teased by Faraday Future earlier this year, believed to be an all-electric large SUV to take on the Tesla Model X.
The test mule is shrouded in black sheets and swirly camouflage - even on the wheels - giving little away in terms of the car’s design, but does little to roll by without capturing someone’s attention.

Everette Taylor, vice president of marketing at Skurt - an on-demand car rental company in the US - tweeted the photo this week, though it seems she wasn’t sure of its identity.
According to website Electrek, the prototype in question is an upcoming Faraday Future vehicle.
Despite the heavy disguise, some of the vehicle’s lines are visible through the array of black-and-white, in particular the sloping roofline and tailgate that is very similar to the silhouette of the teased Faraday Future model.
The new car will be built on a Variable Platform Architecture (VPA) which will underpin Faraday Future’s first generation of electric vehicles.
The platform can accommodate one to three electric motors, along with front-, rear- and all-wheel drive configurations.
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, the company revealed the FFZERO1 electric hypercar concept - which also rides on the VPA platform - claiming a 0-100km/h sprint in under three seconds and a top speed of over 322km/h.

The website reports this mule is likely to be the company’s large premium SUV offering, which is forecast to cost about US $100,000 ($131,630) when it goes on sale.
In April, Faraday Future broke ground on the site of its US$1 billion ($1.3 billion) factory in Las Vegas, which is set to be 279,000 square metres and create 4500 new jobs.
The company has flagged 2017 as its target for unveiling its first production car - likely to be the one spied - with full-scale manufacturing set to kick off later this decade.
