Jeep 75th Anniversary Limited Edition specials hit Australia

Jeep will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a raft of limited-edition special models, all paying homage to the military history of the Jeep nameplate. Say hello to the new 75th Anniversary variants of the Renegade, Cherokee, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee.

Across those models, there will be unique green exterior colours, satin bronze wheels, bronze and orange exterior accents and 75th Anniversary badging. Inside, there will also be unique elements including ‘ombre mesh’ seat inserts, 75th Anniversary seat back logos and accent stitching.

With heritage that goes back to the original military Willys in 1941, you’d expect these 75th Anniversary Jeep models to be military inspired and you’d be right. All will be available in exclusive green exterior paint colours with names like Sarge Green, Recon Green or Jungle Green depending on the model.

Topping the limited-edition tree is the Grand Cherokee, which is a preview (visually) for the soon-to-be launched 2017 Grand Cherokee. Based on the Limited grade, the Grand Cherokee 75th will be available in Recon Green, Brilliant Black, Bright White, Billet Silver and Granite Crystal.

Exterior changes are certainly noticeable with a restyled grille, headlamps and front fascia, bronze 20-inch alloy wheels and roof rails, a bronze rear step pad applique, grille throats and lower basic surround and bronze 75th Anniversary badging.

Under the bonnet, there is new electric power steering, and weight-saving aluminium suspension components. Power creeps up from 210kW to 213kW, while fuel use drops from 10.4L/100km to 10.0L/100km on the combined cycle. Stop/start is standard, as is advanced two-step variable valve lift and upgraded variable valve timing.

Inside the Grand Cherokee you’ll find leather trim, 'debossed' 75th Anniversary front seat back logos, tangerine stitching accents on the seats, centre console and armrests along with Moroccan Sun painted interior elements. You’ll also notice the new ‘polystable’ transmission shifter.

Pricing for the Grand Cherokee 75th starts from $64,500 for the petrol engine and $71,500 for the diesel engine, before on-road costs. Jeep Australia is planning to offer ‘a couple of hundred in total across the two engine variants’. Although Jeep Australia spokesperson Lucy McLellan did confirm that, “more can be ordered if there is extra demand once the first batch is sold.”

The Jeep Cherokee 75th is based on the Longitude trim level and is available in Recon Green, Brilliant Black and Bright White. Outside, there are bronze 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, grille throats, lower front fascia surround and rear fascia applique.

There are black widow surrounds, bronze badging and Jeep badges with orange accents front and rear. The Cherokee badging also has orange accents on the the driver and passenger doors. There’s a bronze 75th Anniversary badge on the driver and passenger doors too.

Inside, the infotainment system has been upgraded to Jeep’s 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen with satellite navigation, and a nine-speaker Alpine sound system with subwoofer. There’s Morocco Black cloth trim with ‘Linen to Black’ ombre mesh cloth seat inserts. The seats also get tangerine and pearl dual-tone accent stitching along with the instrument panel, armrests and centre console. Moroccan Sun painted accents also feature.

Pricing for the Jeep Cherokee 75th starts from $45,000 before on-road costs and Jeep Australia has confirmed 100 examples will be available to Australian buyers.

The Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited models are perhaps most suited to the 75th Anniversary heritage and are based on the Overland specification. The two models will be available in Sarge Green, Black, Rhino, Mojave Sand, Bright White, Billet Silver and Granite Crystal.

Outside, there are 17-inch bronze alloy wheels, Rubicon rock rails, body-coloured grille with bronze grille throats and headlamp rings, Power Dome bonnet with functional air extraction vents and unique off-road rock rails.

The tough Jeep Command-Trac 4x4 transfer case with 3.73:1 ratio is standard as are serious Dana axles. There’s a Dana 30 up front, and heavy duty Dana 44 out back. Jeep badging has orange accents in the front grille, while there’s a 75th Anniversary bronze badge on each of the front quarter panels and a ‘Trail Rated’ badge on the left only.

In the cabin, the Wranglers get a rear-view camera, McKinley black leather and vinyl seats (as well as the centre console lid and armrests), Linen to Black ombre mesh seat inserts, a debossed 75th Anniversary front seat back logo as well as tangerine and pearl dual-tone accent stitching on the seats and centre console lid.

Like the other models, there will be Moroccan Sun painted interior elements, as well as front (and rear for the Unlimited) door pull handles with black bolt heads. The passenger grab handle is matched to those and also features a 75th Anniversary logo, and there are painted air vent surrounds, Mopar slush mats and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation.

Pricing for the Jeep Wrangler 75th SWB starts from $51,000 before on-road costs and only 15 will make their way to Australia. The Jeep Wrangler 75th LWB will start from $55,000 before on-road costs and 75 will be available locally.

The last limited edition Jeep is the Renegade 75th Anniversary, which is also based on the Longitude trim level and will be available in Jungle Green, Alpine White and Black.

The exterior of the Renegade is distinctive with bronze 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, grille throat rings, front fog lamp surrounds, lower rear fascia applique, tail light surrounds and badging.

The Jeep badge has orange accents front and rear, along with the Renegade badge, which is present on driver and passenger doors. The 75th Anniversary bronze badge is also on the driver and passenger doors.

Inside, there are black cloth seats with Linen to Black ombre mesh seat inserts, tangerine and pearl dual-tone accent stitching on the seats and centre console, along with Moroccan Sun painted interior highlights.

Pricing for the Jeep Renegade 75th starts from $33,500 before drive away costs, and 180 will be available for buyers in Australia.
