McLaren 570GT by MSO revealed ahead of Pebble Beach debut

McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has unveiled a special version of the 570GT at the Concours d’Elegance event later this month.

Using the recently-launched McLaren 570GT as a base, the bespoke MSO version adds styling, feature and material enhancements which will soon be available to customers wanting to personalise their supercar.

A new MSO Exhaust system, which is 30 per cent lighter than the standard stainless steel system thanks to its titanium construction, enhances the engine’s soundtrack.

The company says it used what it learnt from the 675LT to deliver a “progressively richer and more characterful tone” than the standard exhaust.

Adding to the aural appeal are the gold-tinted titanium nitride heat shields, which change colour to a blue-ish purple as the system heats and cools through its cycle.

Outside, the 570GT by MSO is finished in Pearl White paint, contrasted with an MSO Piano Black package. The styling additions include gloss black wheels, side skirts, front and rear trims, door inserts along with interior details.

The 570GT by MSO also features an Electro-Chromic roof, which the company says is currently in development for the ‘standard’ 570GT.

Starting with the standard glass roof with UV-protective interlayer, the Electro-Chromic roof adds an electrochromic layer as well.

The touch-sensitive headlining allows the roof to be adjusted through five defined points ranging from almost clear to a dark tint, which MSO says adds an additional layer of comfort, privacy and protection.

Inside, the 570GT by MSO features, Saddle Tan leather interior, 12-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system along with gloss carbon-fibre trim throughout the cabin – including full-length gloss carbon-fibre sill panels.

Paul Mackenzie, executive director of MSO, said: “This is the second consecutive year that McLaren Special Operations has used the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to demonstrate our capabilities on Sports Series cars” – making reference to the one-off ‘Mauvine Blue’ (more like purple) 570S from last year’s event.

“Closely following the reveal of the [570GT] addition to the Sports Series family, we showcase the breadth of McLaren Special Operations’s personalisation work, this time focusing on bespoke engineering design and components.”

“With its Electro-Chromic roof especially, the McLaren 570GT by MSO concept would be well suited to the needs and demands of customers in sunnier and warmer climates,” he added.

The 570GT by MSO will be presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance from 21 August.
