2017 BMW 3 Series GT LCI pricing and specifications: Tweaked looks, more equipment

The 2017 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo range is the latest recipient of the German car maker's 'Life Cycle Impulse' (LCI) facelift, and will arrive in Australia during the fourth quarter of this year.

First revealed in June, the 3 Series GT LCI facelift receives a new daytime-running light signature for the standard-fit LED headlights, lightly refreshed front and rear bumpers, along with new LED tail-lights with an LED signature similar to the LCI-updated 3 Series sedan and wagon.

Other updates across the range include new interior materials and an updated iDrive infotainment system, new alloy wheel designs and more colour options.

The 320i model has been deleted for the new model year, leaving the 3 Series GT range with the 320d and 330i, which start at $70,400 and $77,900 plus on-road costs respectively.

Powered by a 140kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the 320d claims a 0-100km/h of 7.7 seconds and combined-cycle fuel figures of 4.5L/100km.

The 320d GT comes standard with the Sport Line package, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and fog lights, ‘Business’ satellite navigation, adaptive M suspension, head-up display (HUD), lane-departure warning, surround-view camera system, automatic tailgate, ‘Sensatec’ artificial leather upholstery and DAB+ digital radio.

Optional on the 320d is the Luxury Line package, which adds Dakota Leather along with trim and alloy wheel upgrades for an extra $1560.

Stepping up to the 330i GT adds a new 185kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol (up 5kW on the 328i), which launches the hatch-backed 3 Series from 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds. The new engine also drops fuel consumption by 0.3L/100km, now sitting at a claimed 6.2L/100km.

The 330i GT adds 19-inch alloy wheels, Dakota leather upholstery, electric lumbar support for the driver and front passenger, keyless entry and tailgate opening, ‘Professional’ navigation system, a panoramic sunroof along with a nine-speaker sound system.

With the 330i, customers can choose between the standard Sport Line trim package or the Luxury Line package as a no-cost option - which adds specific 19-inch alloy wheels and trims.

The 3 Series GT range is also offered with a range of optional packages.

On the 320d, the Innovations Package ($3730) adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, parking assistant, ‘Professional’ navigation and a nine-speaker sounds system - bringing the entry-level model in line with the 330i’s specification.

Also available on the base 320d is the Comfort Package ($2951), which adds a heated steering wheel, keyless entry, lumbar support for the driver and front passenger seats, along with heated seats at the front and rear.

The 330i is also offered with the Innovations Package ($3500) which includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, parking assistant and a 16-speaker harmon/kardon surround sound system.

Adding the Comfort Package to the 330i specifies a heated steering wheel, along with front and rear seat heating.

The popular M Sport package is also available for both 320d ($5400) and 330i ($2000) grades.

Like the rest of the BMW range, the 3 Series GT line-up is covered by the company’s Condition Based Servicing (CBS) system, which uses the vehicle’s sensors and algorithms to determine when maintenance is required.

Customers wanting to customise their 3 Series GT even further can select from a variety of additions from the options list.

The 3 Series GT LCI range is available to order now, and will arrive in the fourth quarter of this year.
