2016 Mini Ray launches in Australia from $29,000

The Mini Ray has returned to the Australian market, replacing the Mini One in the local line-up.

Reviving the badge worn by the 2011 car of the same name, the 2016 Mini Ray takes the place of the Mini One as the price-leader in the hatch range.

Starting at $29,000 drive-away, the new Mini Ray is available in both three- and five-door body styles and offers various personalisation options.

Powering the Mini Ray is a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, producing 75kW of power and 180Nm of torque. Claimed fuel consumption for the three-pot engine is 4.9L/100km when paired with the six-speed manual transmission or 5.0L/100km with the six-speed automatic.

Two paint options are available; Pepper White (solid) or Midnight Black (metallic), with pink, yellow or green colour accessories available as no-cost options. Bonnet stripes, Ray badging, specific mirror covers and clear indicator lenses distinguish the Ray from the rest of the Mini range.

Standard equipment largely carries over from the now-superseded Mini One, including 15-inch steel wheels, Bluetooth, USB, heated electric exterior mirrors and rear parking sensors.

The Mini Ray also comes with six airbags, traction control with electronic differential lock, stability control (ESC), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and anti-lock braking (ABS) with brake assist (BA) all fitted as standard.

As with the rest of the Mini range, the Mini Ray is covered by a three year/unlimited kilometre warranty.

The 2016 Mini Ray is available to order now.
