2018 Range Rover Sport Coupe spied

The new Range Rover Sport Coupe has been spotted in and around the Nurburgring.

Although this prototype has fake panels coming out of the tailgate, we can see that the Sport Coupe has a much faster rake for the rear windscreen. When it goes on sale, the Sport Coupe will be targeted at the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.

Unlike the facelifted Range Rover Sport that was spotted in May, the Coupe is clad head to toe in camouflage, with an assortment of fake body parts that serve to further disguise various styling elements.

It's hard to tell, but the Coupe might also feature altered or new doors to accompany the car's faster roof line.

Under the skin, the Sport Coupe is expected to be almost identical to the facelifted Range Rover Sport, although there should be some variations related to suspension tuning. The Coupe will likely prioritise track handling over off-road capability.

Beneath the bonnet, buyers can expect a selection of V6 and V8 engines, although some markets may also feature the option of the company's 2.0-litre turbocharged Ingenium four-cylinder motor.

The cabin should be carried straight over from the updated Range Rover Sport. As our earlier spy photos revealed, the revised Sport will feature Jaguar Land Rover's latest InControl Touch Pro infotainment system.

Expectations are that the Range Rover Sport will make its debut in the later part of 2016, with the Sport Coupe not breaking cover until the second half of 2017.
