2015-16 Mazda 2 recalled for fuel leak fix
Mazda has issued a recall for 1248 of its current-generation 2015-16 ‘DJ’ Mazda 2 hatchback, over concerns a fuel leak could pose a fire risk.
The manufacturer reports the welding between the fuel tank and rollover valve (ROV) may peel off over time, causing a fuel leak.
A fuel leak poses a fire risk, which is a safety hazard for occupants of the vehicle and other road users.
Affected Mazda 2 vehicles were sold from 30 January 2015 to 16 February 2016. The VIN ranges for these vehicles is MM0 DJ2HA* 0W 111420 – MM0 DJ2HA* 0W 116874. The full list can be viewed here.
Mazda will contact owners of the recalled vehicles via mail as soon as parts become available. No incidents have been reported so far in Australia.
Customers will be advised to present their Mazda 2 to their local dealer, where their fuel tank and rollover valve will be replaced at no charge.
