2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 Black Series wagon spied
The regular E63 range hasn't even been released yet, but the Mercedes-AMG E63 Black Series wagon has already been spied enjoying a bit of summer sunshine in the south of Europe.
Compared to the E63 and E63 S, which have been spied in both sedan and wagon forms, the Black Series prototype seen here features a wider track with flared wheel arches at both ends of the vehicle.
We can't be certain, thanks to the car's comprehensive disguise, but the Black Series will probably feature slightly altered front and rear bumpers.
All variants of the next-generation E63 will ditch the current car's 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 in favour of a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, which will be related to the engine used in the AMG GT coupe and C63.
According to a Russian brochure that was leaked in April, the new E63's 4.0-litre V8 will generate 420kW of power and 750Nm of torque.
The E63 S will reportedly boast an additional 30kW and 100Nm for a total of 450kW and 850Nm. The new Black Series may gain between 15 to 40 extra kilowatts over and above the S' engine.
Tobias Moers, head of AMG, confirmed earlier this month that all of the upcoming E63 models will be all-wheel-drive only.
The new E63 and E63 S is expected to debut later this year, possibly at the Paris motor show, which takes place at the beginning of October. The Black Series models will probably follow suit some time in 2017.
