2015 Holden Malibu recalled for seatbelt fix
Holden is recalling 35 vehicles in its 2015 Malibu sedan line, over concerns the rear-seat seatbelt buckles could detach.
The car maker reports the pivot pin inside the twin buckle assembly for the rear right-hand side and centre seats may translate sideways due to a manufacturing fault.
If the fault occurs, the seatbelt buckles of these seats may detach from their anchor plate. The seatbelts in this case would be unable to properly restrain an occupant, posing a significant safety risk in the event of a collision.
"There have been no confirmed reports of this condition in Australia. The recall affects approximately 35 vehicles in Australia only," the company said in a statement today.
"Holden will be contacting all potentially affected customers to arrange a free-of-charge inspection, and if necessary, a replacement of the rear-right and rear-centre seatbelt buckle."
Affected Malibu vehicles were produced between 9 July 2015 and 13 July 2015. The VIN ranges for the recalled vehicles are as follows: KL3GA69U9FB071986 – KL3GA69U9FB076417.
