2017 Audi RS3 sedan spied
The new Audi RS3 sedan has been spied doing testing on the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
These first spy photos of the RS3 sedan provide further proof that Audi is working on a new range-topping variant for its smallest sedan.
In February, images leaked out from the private Audi Summit event, showing what appeared to be a production ready RS3 sedan.
Like the car in the leaked images, this prototype features a honeycomb grille and the facelifted A3's stepped headlights. Although there's a disguise over the lower air intakes, the design of the front spoiler mirrors that of the leaked vehicle.
Other changes include two large oval exhaust tips, a new rear bumper design, and flared side sills.
Under the skin, RS3 sedan could feature the same drivetrain as the current RS3 Sportback hatch, which utilises a 270kW/465Nm 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine.
Rumour has it, though, that the sedan might feature the same 2.5-litre turbo used in the TT-RS coupe and convertible, which both have 294kW of power and 480Nm of torque at their disposal.
Regardless of the engine used, all-wheel-drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be standard.
If the RS3 sedan does indeed utilise the TT-RS' engine, the 0-100km/h time could drop from the Sportback's 4.3 seconds to something closer to four seconds flat. The unrestricted top speed will likely still be around the 280km/h mark.
Australia
The RS3 sedan is expected to debut later this year, meaning that an Australian launch won't take place until 2017.
