Chrysler 300, Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Ram added to Takata recall: 22,000 vehicles affected
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has issued a recall for more than 22,000 vehicles from a trio of model lines as part of the ongoing Takata airbag recall.
Less than a week after Subaru recalled nearly 76,000 vehicles as part of the Takata scandal, FCA has added a further 22,345 units to the worldwide campaign.
Affected models include the 2005-2012 Chrysler 300, 2007-2012 Jeep Wrangler and 2004-2010 Dodge Ram.
The Chrysler 300 recall adds the 2011 and 2012 model-years to the previous notice issued for vehicles produced between 2005 and 2010.
Close to 60 million vehicles have been recalled globally for their faulty Takata airbags, which have the potential to rupture and release metal fragments when they are deployed.
If the metal fragments strike occupants during a collision, this could result in serious injury, even death.
Owners of the affected 300s, Wranglers, and Rams will be notified by FCA and are urged to present their vehicles to their local Chrysler, Jeep, or Dodge dealer where the vehicle can be repaired.
