2016 Jaguar XJ recalled for airbag fix
Jaguar has issued a recall for seven vehicles from its 2016 model-year XJ line over concerns the airbag may not fully deploy in a collision.
According to the British car maker, a malformed canister could affect the driver’s airbag performance. The airbag may not meet the required specification for inflating time as a result.
Jaguar says in the event of a collision where the driver’s airbag is required to deploy, the driver isn’t fully protected by the airbag as intended. This poses an increased risk of injury for the driver of the vehicle.
Affected XJ vehicles were produced between 2 May 2016 and 3 June 2016, with the VIN range falling between SAJWA1C70G8V99906 to SAJWA2GE3GMW00231.
Owners of the seven affected XJs will be notified by Jaguar and asked to present the vehicle to their local dealer who will replace the driver’s airbag.
This is the second recall this week for Jaguar, having already recalled 35 XF and 15 XJ sedans equipped with the 3.0-litre TDV6 diesel engine over stalling concerns.
A handful of Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles were also affected.
