2017 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo rendered
The production version of the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo wagon has been rendered this week, hinting at what the more practical version of Porsche’s large sedan might look like when it makes its debut.
First previewed by the 2012 Panamera Sport Turismo concept, the wagon-bodied Panamera has already been confirmed for the American market for a possible 2018 or 2019 model-year launch, according to industry journal Automotive News.
Speaking at a press event in the US in May, Klaus Zellmer, Porsche’s US chief, said that the new Panamera wagon will definitely be offered in the States, however could only confirm that it wouldn’t be launched in 2017 alongside the recently-revealed sedan.
The rendering, created by independent Dutch artist Remco Meulendijk, looks largely like the sedan with the exception of the longer roofline that extends to the more practical hatchback tailgate. It doesn’t differ greatly to the 2012 concept car, either.
We’ve already seen numerous spy photos of the Panamera wagon testing on public roads and at the Nurburgring, so it was only a matter of time before the company confirmed the more practical variant.
As with the recently-launched Panamera sedan, the production version of the Panamera Sport Turismo will ride on the new MSB platform for large front-engined rear- and all-wheel drive vehicles.
The Panamera wagon should also share the majority of its engine range with its sedan sibling, which at launch features a range of turbocharged V6 and V8 petrol and diesel engines, mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. All launch variants of the new Panamera in Australia are exclusively driven by all four wheels.

It is yet to be announced whether more affordable, lower-powered powerplants will be made available in the near-future, along with rear-wheel driven variants. It is expected, however, that a plug-in hybrid variant will debut at some point.
Sales of the new Panamera sedan have already begun, however the first Australian deliveries won’t arrive until the first quarter of next year.
Expect the Panamera wagon to make its public debut sometime in the next year, with the first examples to hit the road at the very end of 2017 or sometime in 2018.
