Toyota Corolla, Prius, Prius V, Rukus, Lexus CT200h recalled for fuel-leak fix

Toyota has recalled several models, including one from its premium brand Lexus, over concerns that a fuel leak could pose a fire risk.

The recall affects Toyota Corolla, Prius, Prius V, Rukus and Lexus CT200h vehicles built between various dates depending on the model, however all are being recalled for the same fault.

The Japanese manufacturer reports that the fuel suction plate located within the fuel tank may develop a crack, which could expand over time. This, in turn, may leak when the vehicle has a full tank of fuel.

As the car maker notes, having fuel or fuel vapour in the presence of an ignition source poses a clear fire risk.

Build dates for affected models are listed below:

Corolla hatch: 5 March 2007 to 23 July 2012, 26 July 2012 to 1 October 2014
Corolla sedan: 5 March 2007 to 30 September 2013
Prius: 1 April 2009 to 5 February 2015
Prius V: 13 March 2012 to 10 November 2014
Rukus: 26 February 2010 to 30 September 2014
CT200h: 1 September 2010 to 4 February 2015

VIN ranges for the affected Toyota models can be viewed here, while the VIN ranges for the affected Lexus CT200h vehicles are available here.

This is the second recall for the previous-generation Prius and CT200h in less than seven days, after being recalled for a cracked curtain airbag inflator last week.

Owners of the recalled vehicles will be contacted via mail.
