The current E63 is offered in both rear- and all-wheel-drive formats in certain markets. According Moers, in Germany 90 percent of buyers opted for the all paw version.
Moers didn't go into details, but he promised a "completely new four-wheel drive system" for the E63, one which will be "the biggest step we ever did with a generation". It has been speculated that this system could feature active torque distribution.
Although future AMG products will utilise a rear-wheel steering, like the one on the just unveiled Mercedes-AMG GT R coupe, the E63 won't be one of those models.
AMG's boss says that for the new E63, the 4.0-litre V8 will gain new heads and turbochargers, and that it will feature around 450kW of power in order to be class competitive.
This seemingly confirms the authenticity of a Russian dealer brochure that appeared online in April. The leak said that the base E63 will feature 420kW/750Nm version of the twin-turbo V8, while the E63 S will use a more powerful 450kW/850Nm variant.
The new E63 sedan is likely to debut this year, possibly at the Paris motor show, which kicks off at the beginning of October.
