Celebrating the forefather of all V12 Lamborghini supercars, 2016 marks the Miura’s 50th birthday. To commemorate the model’s half century, Lamborghini has already meticulously restored a green Miura SV that was displayed at the 1971 Geneva motor show, along with taking two examples from Lamborghini’s own museum on an ‘Italian Job’ road trip through the Swiss Alps with the Miura’s designer and the heads of its technical development.
Adding to the festivities, the Italian supercar maker has released a very limited version of its current flagship, the Aventador, and named it the Miura Homage special edition.
Based on the Aventador LP700-4 variant, just 50 units of the 50th anniversary special will be produced, available in six of the most iconic solid and metallic colours including Rosso Arancio Miura (red-orange), Verde Scandal (green) and Blu Tahiti (blue).
The upper body is finished in one colour while the lower section is painted in a contrasting tone - just like the colours and specifications of original Miura models.
Inside, the Aventador Miura Homage is available with either black or tan leather with tone-on-tone stitching and carbon-fibre trim as standard. Also stitched onto the upper section of the seats is the 'Miura 50th' logo in gold or silver to reflect the car’s livery, while ‘Lamborghini’ lettering is embroidered into the leather dashboard.
Sharing its 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 with the ‘regular’ Aventador LP700-4, the Miura Homage Edition produces 515kW of power and 690Nm of torque to all four wheels.
Also retaining the 2.9-second 0-100km/h from the standard Aventador, the special edition also claims the same 350km/h top speed as the base car.
The Lamborghini Aventador Miura Homage will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed starting June 23, and will tour numerous events for the remainder of the year to celebrate its grandfather’s 50th anniversary.
According to Lamborghini, the majority of the 50 Aventador Miura Homages have already been sold, with the remaining cars available in selected markets globally.
