Mercedes-Benz Steps it Up in Oz
As of September and October this year, Mercedes-Benz will offer their stunning S 63 AMG and CL 65 AMG respectively in Australian showrooms.
The introduction of the Mercedes-Benz CL 65 AMG will make it Australia's most powerful coupe. The hand-crafted 6.0L V-12 bi-turbo engine developed with motorsport experience produces a maximum output of 450 kW which is maintained between 4800 and 5100 rpm while the maximum torque of 1000Nm (electronically limited) is available from an amazingly low 2000 to 4000 rpm.
The sprint from 0-100km/h takes just 4.4 seconds and will return to a standstill in a mere 35.6 metres.
The S 63 AMG is a harmonious blend of sports and luxury, powered by a hand-crafted AMG 6.3-litre V8-engine it eclipses any Australian offering producing a peak power output figure of 386 kW at 6,800 rpm and 630 Nm of torque at 5200 rpm.. It sprints to 100km/h in a slightly slower 4.6 seconds compared to its V-12 brethren from a standing start, swiftly moving through its seven-speed automatic transmission which can be operated using the AMG shift paddles on the steering wheel.
If either of these cars tickles your fancy, unless you are reading this from the deck of your luxurious yacht sipping Dom Pérignon whilst closing another multi-million dollar mining deal - chances are owning one of these incredible cars is slim to none.
The V-12 CL 65 AMG demands a price tag of $474,974 whilst the V8 S 63 AMG is slightly less expensive at $349,974.
