A track-only vehicle, the 570S Sprint was developed alongside the 570S GT4, which was unveiled in March. While the two share many elements in common, the Sprint isn't homologated for any racing series, although a GT4 compliance pack is available as an optional extra.
The 570S Sprint is fitted with the same front splitter and floor assembly as used on the GT4. Other changes include a high temperature radiator, large rear wing, and Pirelli racing slicks matched with centre-locking cast magnesium wheels.
A fire extinguisher, and an FIA-approved roll cage and flat-back driver's seat with a six-point harness are all fitted as standard within the stripped-out cabin.
Items on the options list include a motorsport-style air jacking system for easier wheel changes and a passenger's seat with a six-point safety harness.
As with the road-going versions of the 570S, the Sprint is powered by a mid-mounted twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 engine. Drive goes to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
McLaren hasn't provided any performance or output figures for the 570S Sprint, although the company claims that "power and torque levels have been optimised to ensure the ultimate levels of driver engagement and the best levels of noise".
For reference, the road-going 570S has 420kW of power and 600Nm of torque at its disposal.
The first 570S Sprint coupes will be delivered to customers in 2017.
