For the S90 sedan and V90 wagon, the R-Design package includes a new front bumper with a larger air intake area below the main grille, a sportier design, piano black plastic mouldings, and an absence of chrome embellishments.
There's also a new grille that does away with the vertical chrome slats seen on regular S90/V90 models, and a brushed metal look for the wing mirror caps.
The R-Design models ride on 245/35 Pirelli P-Zero tyres fitted with 21-inch diamond-cut five-spoke alloy wheels with matte-black trim.
On the inside, R-Design models are fitted with a new styling package that includes piano black elements, carbon-fibre-style inserts for dashboard and doors, black leather with white stitching, stainless steel pedals, revised interior illumination, and brushed metal highlights.
On a more practical level there's also a unique steering wheel, and new seats with chunkier bolsters for better cornering grip.
Volvo Australia has confirmed that these packs will be made available in Australia from the early to mid part of 2017, suggesting a schedule in-line with the regular S90 and V90 models.
The Volvo S90 is scheduled to go on sale in Australia from August 2016, while the V90 is set to enter showrooms during the first quarter of 2017.
