2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR set for Nurburgring guest hot laps

That’s right. Via what Jaguar is calling its ‘Jaguar Co-Pilot Nordschleife’ program, the British brand will pair you up with a professional driver for what it promises will be a “full-throttle ride” in a unique Jaguar F-Type SVR.

Still powered by a supercharged 5.0-litre V8, and still with enough go to claim 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds, the Firesand Orange metallic ‘Ring special F-Type SVR has been modified by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) department specifically for its hot-lap duties. This means a roll cage has been fitted “for occupant safety”, along with Recaro Racing seats and racing harnesses.

Jaguar says the Co-Pilot Nordschleife program is open to all ‘visitors, fans and sports car enthusiasts’ - provided they are 18-years-old or above - with every passenger being equipped with a race suit, helmet, and a HANS (Head and Neck Support) device.

Lasting 30 minutes in total, the experience comprises a safety briefing prior to hitting the track, one lap of the formidable 20.83-kilometre Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, and the opportunity to watch back your lap – captured by several on-board cameras – post-run.

The Jaguar F-Type SVR Co-Pilot Nordschleife laps are available for 16 consecutive weekends from now until the end of October, and, if you can get there, will set you back 295 euro per person ($445).

Able to hit 322km/h in Coupe form and 314km/h in Convertible guise, the 2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR is due to arrive locally in the third quarter of 2016, with prices starting at $289,590 and $308,470, respectively.
