Hyundai Australia has expanded its growing rollout of Apple CarPlay connectivity, this time upgrading variants in the Accent, iMax and iLoad ranges.
Essentially gracing the vehicle’s infotainment system with the familiar look and feel of an iPhone or iPad, Apple’s CarPlay software offers access to Apple Maps navigation and Siri voice command - such as hands-free phone calls, messaging and dictation - along with music, calendar and apps like Spotify.
Additionally, existing iMax Series II and iLoad Series II owners can upgrade their infotainment systems to have Apple CarPlay via a quick 15-minute visit to their local Hyundai dealer, free of charge.
The same upgrade can be applied to all Accent models built from December 2015, along with selected variants built between December 2014 and November 2015.
Also included in the update is Google Now voice activation for Android users. Hyundai says that the full Android Auto upgrade will be added later this year.
Following the addition of Apple CarPlay to selected variants of the i30, Tucson and Santa Fe in January, Hyundai now offers the software on all variants of the Accent, Elantra, iMax, iLoad and selected variants of the i30, Tucson and Santa Fe.
The infotainment upgrade comes at no added cost to the current manufacturer’s list price (MLP) of Accent, iMax and iLoad models.
