2016 Jaguar XF diesel recalled for fuel leak fix
Jaguar has issued a recall for 28 of its new ‘X260’ 2016- and 2017-model-year XF sedans fitted with the TDV6 3.0-litre diesel engine, over concerns of a possible fuel leak that poses a fire risk.
The British manufacturer reports that in certain vehicles, the fuel hoses under the bonnet have been misrouted.
As a result, the metal hose clips could chafe against a nylon fuel pipe, which could leak fuel onto the exhaust manifold or onto the road, potentially causing a fire and a road hazard.
The 28 affected XFs fall between the VIN ranges SAJBB4AK1GCY00021 to SAJBB4AK2HCY30291.
Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by Jaguar, and will be asked to present their XF to a Jaguar dealer who will inspect the nylon fuel pipe for chafing damage. If the chafing of the pipe is observed a technician will replace the fuel pipe and correctly route the fuel hoses.
Even if there is no damage observed on the nylon pipe, the fuel hoses will still be routed correctly.
