2017 Maserati Quattroporte revealed, Australian deliveries due later this year

The Maserati Quattroporte facelift has been unveiled with an uprated base engine, mild styling tweaks, and a large 8.4-inch infotainment screen.

Up front, the facelifted Quattroporte sports an updated lower fascia design and a revised grille with striking vertical chrome slats. Behind the grille there's an active Air Shutter system that, along with other changes to car, is said to improve aerodynamic efficiency by 10 percent.

Around the back, there's a new bumper with subtly redesigned reflectors and a matte black diffuser-style element.

Plonk yourself into the front seat, and you'll notice that Maserati has tweaked the dashboard to incorporate a new high-resolution 8.4-inch touchscreen. The capacitive, multi-touch capable display sits above revised controls for the climate control system.

The centre tunnel features revised storage areas, and a new dual-layer rotary control knob that accesses the infotainment system and adjusts the audio system's volume.

Equipment

A new Advanced Driver Assistance Package bundles together lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automated emergency braking assistance, and an adaptive cruise control system that functions in stop/start traffic.

A surround view camera system is an optional extra.

There are now two upgrade trim packs — GranLusso and GranSport — available as an optional extra on V6 models, and fitted as standard on the top-of-the-range V8 GTS.

The GranLusso trim line includes 20-inch alloys, black brake callipers and chrome highlights for the exterior.

Standard equipment includes electric pedal adjustment, Radica wood trim, electric rear sunshade, quad-zone climate control, and heated rear seats.

As its name suggests, the GranSport pack goes for a more athletic appearance with 21-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers and piano black detailing.

The interior includes new sports seats, piano black wood trim, aluminium transmission paddles, stainless steel pedals, and a sports steering wheel.

Drivetrains

The base Quattroporte features a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 with an extra 15kW of power, for total of 257kW.

Along with the unchanged torque output of 500Nm, the entry-level Quattroporte will now hit a higher top speed of 270km/h, while the 0-100km/h time is reduced by 0.1 seconds to 5.5 seconds.

Power and torque output for the Quattroporte S' 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 remains unchanged at 301kW and 550Nm. Despite that, the top speed has been increased to 286km/h from 285km/h.

Likewise for the Quattroporte Diesel, engine output from the 3.0-litre V6 remains unchanged at 202kW of power and 600Nm of torque, but the top speed has upped from 250km/h to 252km/h.

In the range-topping GTS, the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 still produces 390kW of power and 710Nm of torque on overboost. The 0-100km/h time remains untouched at 4.7 seconds, but the top speed has risen to 310km/h.

Australia

The local order book for the updated Quattroporte will open from July 2016, but deliveries won't begin until the end of the year.
