HSV builds 85,000th vehicle

Holden Special Vehicles is celebrating a huge milestone this week, having produced its 85,000th car.

Hitting the landmark number less than a year before Commodore-based production ends for good, the 85,000th HSV is a blue Clubsport R8 LSA destined for sale through the brand’s oldest dealership - Garry and Warren Smith in Oakleigh, Victoria.

This is the fifth milestone that has been celebrated with a HSV Clubsport in the manufacturer's 29-year history - the 40,000th, 50,000th, 75,000th and 80,000th vehicles produced by HSV all wore Clubsport badges.

When the special Clubsport R8 LSA is sold, its eventual owner will also receive a unique build plate that acknowledges its milestone status, accompanied with a “letter of authenticity” signed by HSV’s managing director, Tim Jackson.

“We are constantly reminded of the dedication and passion our employees, dealers and owners continue to show,” said Jackson.

“From humble beginnings at our Notting Hill production facility in 1987, with just three employees, a single desk, two chairs and one telephone, to the production of our 85,000th vehicle.”

“This is a milestone that can proudly be shared by them all,” he added.

HSV’s milestone comes soon after the launch of several special editions, including the Clubsport, Maloo and Grange SV Black specials, along with the Clubsport R8 Track Edition.
