Bentley closing in on ‘small’ coupe decision – report

Bentley is nearing a decision on whether its proposed ‘compact model line’ will move to production, according to a report by Automotive News.

Over a year after the British marque hinted at a possible future model with its EXP 10 Speed 6 concept, Bentley now appears closer than ever to confirming that a 'compact' model will join its line-up in the near future.

"We are readying the concept for a decision,” CEO Wolfgang Duerheimer told Automotive News.

“It would come as a two-door coupe, but a roadster is possible as well, and it would be launched after the next Continental.”

Since the EXP 10 Speed 6 surfaced early last year, rumours that Bentley may be looking to expand into sports car sector - with a smaller and more capable companion to the Continental GT - have grown.

Last August, Duerheimer told website, The Detroit Bureau, that a “fairly aggressive, state-of-the-art sports car” will “make a different company out of Bentley Motors”.

For now, however, the car remains unconfirmed, and there is no word on what would power a compact Bentley.

Previous reports surrounding the EXP10 Speed 6 - which the compact coupe would likely derive from - suggest a six-cylinder engine of some kind is likely to feature.
