Nissan NV300:: Trafic-based van previewed for Euro market

Japanese manufacturer Nissan has previewed its all-new NV300 work van this week, hinting at the latest addition to the car maker’s commercial vehicle range.

Seen here with just its nose peeking out from under a sheet, the Renault Trafic-based van is set to be unveiled at the Hanover commercial vehicle show in September, with a launch in select markets to follow.

The van is very unlikely to feature in the Australian commercial scene, however, with Nissan’s local arm continuing to rule out a return to the segment.

Nissan Australia has previously cited a competitive market with established players like the Toyota HiAce and Hyundai iLoad as reason enough to steer clear of the sector.

Set to enter Nissan’s commercial vehicle range between the smaller NV200 and the full-sized NV400, the all-new van - which replaces the Primastar - will compete in selected market against the Ford Transit Custom, Mercedes Vito and Volkswagen Transporter.

Evident in the teaser image, its front-end styling borrows elements from Nissan’s passenger cars.
Up font is the company’s V-Motion grille, similar in design to the nose of the Qashqai and Juke - though substantially enlarged.

Production of the NV300 is expected to take place at the same factory as the Renault Trafic. And, as with the outgoing Primastar, it is clear that the new Nissan will be base on Renault's van.
